The most beautiful of carols and that young soloist is brilliant. I get pilloried a lot for saying this but a trained boy treble voice, just before it breaks particularly, is unique.

This music sounds much better in old churches than modern one. I am missing 14 years of having lived in SUFFOLK. Yes, I could go back again. If only the NHS would be better. We have lived in the countryside and it was wonderful. That's LIFE. One can have all ! Where I live now, it's great too. I always said " either SUFFOLK or HAMBURG ".

This is a brilliant score for such an old Carol. Much nicer and one for a choir to sing and appreciate.

My sister's and I sang this to my Mom after Christmas Eve dinner every year (before dessert of figgy pudding, Christmas cookies and ice cream) By the end no one at the table had dry eyes. Mother & child, music and mickle mirth, magic by any other name. We'd grown up hearing this song, a 1960s recording from the King's College choir, decorating the Christmas tree, weeks before, another potent memory.
